Fergie time - Pt 3

Rotherham v Peterborough, Friday 30th March, New York Stadium, 1-1

We are getting a bit fed up of these returning heroes now. This time it was ex manager Steve Evans, now in charge of Peterborough getting the crowds applause. As we all know he managed us to back to back promotions and was in charge at the time of the Alex Revill play off final

Evans in happier times

Of course, after the applause came the derision and abuse. That’s football.

We layered up after a relaxed Good Friday morning, and set off for the New York. Warne was playing the side that lost at Southend with Vaulkes still in defence and no Wood. All the usuals were there, but the crowd was a little subdued. Our wheels have come off a bit recently. There was a good Peterborough contingent.

To our dismay the teams swopped ends and we were shooting towards us for the first half. That never goes well. We did, however, have a good first half, playing some nice football, and having a few chances. Just not taking any. 0-0 half time.

Second half we continued to press, with Peterborough not really causing any problems. Warne fetched on Keelan for DaBall and he broke the deadlock with a close range shot. 1-0.

As time ticked down we looked like scoring more, but the ref decided to play 6 added minutes. At that point we panicked and Peterborough sensed blood. After 8 (EIGHT) minutes of added time a cross was turned in by Peterborough. 1-1 and we all felt that an injustice had been done. After 11(ELEVEN) minutes the ref blew for full time. It was a case of reverse Fergie time.  1-1 but we really should have won.

Next up Charlton away
