Our bubble, and it’s bursting

Milton Keynes Dons v Rotherham, Tues 13th march, Stadium MK, 3-2

The games were coming thick and fast, with the re-arranged game against MK Dons giving us a chance to bounce back after the disappointment of Rochdale. On paper it looked easy, MK being in free fall into the relegation places. The previous night we had been hobnobbing with Millers stars of past and present at a dinner at the New York Stadium. While chatting merrily with Warney, Ian was given some inside info on the team. He was going to drop Emmanuel and DaBall, and bring in Cummings and Keelan. Something to do with pace.

Also present was former Miller and Sky sports superstar Little Scott Minto

MK was the latest team to feature a former Millers star, last seen wearing a trophy on his head at Wembley, Kieran Agard. He had fallen on hard times however, and couldn’t even make the MK bench.

Meanwhile, back in Rotherham, we settled down to watch the rolling results, confident, but NOT arrogant. It started so well, with fake Jeff taking us over to Stadium MK to watch a Millers goal for Semi Ajayi. Wine was opened and gin mixed with tonic as we reclined in the knowledge we were on our way to Another win. Once again it was all downhill from there. I have expunged the rest of fake Jeffs programme from my memory, but vicky assures me it finished 3-2, with John Taylor pulling one back late on.

Another defeat to a team in the relegation zone had me rethinking where we would finish. I started looking back to the teams behind instead of up to the teams above. I cancelled my hotel in Rickmansworth for the spring bank holiday weekend. And I began to wonder if Paul Warne really was the man for the job. Perhaps I’ll give him a couple more games.

Next up, Northampton away
