Walsall v Rotherham, sat 30th Dec, Bescott Stadium, 1-2
There is only one Polish team in the football league, and that is Warsaw. Because of its distance, and the fact that we had family over for the new year, we decided to give it a miss. After all, we surely wouldn’t win away AGAIN.
We lazed about all morning, then Irene and Allen were collected in order to enjoy a big dinner
Meanwhile, in Brizzle, Alex and Vicky visited some cows and boats
While in Warsaw a hardy few Millers fans gathered
Then it was time for us to gather around the TV and watch Jeff and the rolling results service. Our legs had barely risen on the new reclining settee when a score line flashed across the screen. Warsaw 0 Rotherham 1 (Ayaji 1 minute). Talk about early goals. Only 95 minutes to hang on now! Jeff didn’t feel the need to comment though, and there wasn’t even a reporter at the ground. Clearly Warsaw is too far for them as well.
Semi taps in from half an inch
Then celebrates with a dad dance
Half an hour of fingernail biting occurred before the inevitable scrolled across the screen. Warsaw 1 Rotherham 1 (Ismail). Still, a point away would be good. It stayed that way till half time.
Not long into the second half, while Jeff was getting excited about some Prima Donna filled premier league team, a score line popped up.
Warsaw 1 Rotherham 2 (DaBall)
Cue two settees and a chair of people singing ‘Dayyyvid Ball, always believing he’ll score’, in perfect harmony*.
Due to the radio silence from Poland no more updates were forthcoming and we had to hang on, hearts thumping with every new scoreline, until the final score came in. Another away victory, another goal for DaBall. It was also the final appearance in a Millers shirt for past top scorer in all England Keiffer Moore**. But who needs him.
Meanwhile in Brizzle cocktails were burning in celebration
Next up Blackburn at home
*i used a bit of poetic license about the numbers of singers involved
**At time of writing several clubs, including the Millers, are vying for his signature. So who knows
