AFC Wimbledon v Rotherham, Tues 17th Oct, Kings Meadow, 3-1
There were some lovely skies over the New York Stadium in the week preceding this game. I only say that so I can throw in this fabulous photo.
Meanwhile, back in the time of Steve Evans, he was really keen on a player from Scotland (where he felt all the best players resided!) called Lyle Taylor. As was his want Big Steve let slip his interest, and as was their want, Sheffield United stole him from under us just as his pen hovered over his Millers contract. Young Lyle proved to be somewhat of a letdown at Brammall Lane, and to our great satisfaction disappeared without a trace. Until last Tuesday night that is, when he resurfaced as a striker for AFC Wimbledon.
Probably old by now Lyle
Being a Tuesday night game in London, we settled down in front of the rolling results service to watch fake Jeff. Due to our recent form we were almost confident. The midfield maestros Frecks And Potter were still out but we had managed without them splendidly in Saturday, and Wimbledon were in the relegation zone. Plus, the only person we knew who played for them was known to be useless. And we’ve got Keiffer Moore, the top scorer in all England. It soon became apparent that someone else had noticed that Keiffer Moore is the top scorer in all England.
This is a sneakily taken picture of keiffer’s real manager, Mick McCarthy of Ipswich Town, at the game to spy on him. He is only on loan to us and can be recalled at Xmas.
Kingsmeadow, AKA The Cherry Red Records Stadium
In the end the game didn’t go to plan at all. Midway through the first half fake Jeff went down to Kingsmeadow to show us a wonderful goal by Lyle Taylor. No worries as he soon went back to show us an equally good equaliser by Joe Newell. 1-1 at the break.
It appears our defence then had a nightmare, letting old Lyle in twice more to score a hat-trick. Final score 3-1. At least Keiffer didn’t impress too much.
Next up Oxford away.
