Five Star

Rotherham v Oldham, New York Stadium, sat sept 23rd, 5-1

No, not them!

Long, long, ago, we booked tickets for the American football at Wembley, and that weekend had arrived. In order to spend some quality time with my sister and family, I had come to Rickmansworth for a few days prior to the game.

A little lunch

A little wine

In order to spend some quality time with her boyfriend, Vicky had come to London a few days early

Quality time in the hive

A little cocktail

In order to spend quality time with his dog, Ian had stayed behind and would travel down sat evening

One man and his dog

The day dawned a bit cloudy/sunny and lukewarm, so Heather proposed a Mystery Picnic Outing. We got together all the essentials and Heather, David, Andrew and I set off

We were heading North, to where? I hadn't a clue. We made a short pitstop at a garden centre so Heather could purchase a Clematis and a Shrub for David for his birthday, then resumed our MPO. Our destination turned out to be Ivinghoe Beacon, where we set up our chairs on the hillside. We could see for miles

Wine is a picnic essential in the South

Vicky had texted that she and Alex were at Kew Gardens, enjoying the hive

A short stop at The Ashridge estate was made for coffee, and for Andrew to climb the Bridgwater Monument.

As we made our way back, David made my day by detouring to Hemel Hempsteads infamous Magic Roundabout. Not a drug den, but a crazy road system

What is this!?

We had just escaped it when my watch told me that the team was unchanged apart from Purrington replacing the suspended Joe Mattock. Then it told me we had kicked off. Then it told me that Mike had scored. 1-0 Millers

Mike scores his first Millers goal

A huge cheer went up in the car, just from me. This turned to sadness when my watch buzzed again. The equaliser as we failed to clear from a corner (again!!!, honestly) 1-1. Ian was filling Vicky and I in on the details.

All the information we need from an eye witness

As we arrived back at Heathers the half time announcement came to my arm. 1-1.

I made cofffee and settled down to read my book. No Jeff here and I was too nervous to look at twitter. 'Shall we listen to the commentary?'  Heather asked innocently. 'No!' I snapped. 'Oh, look' she exclaimed. 'Oldham have used all their subs'. She was 'watching' the official commentary. My watch buzzed. A text from ian. 'Goal-Moore'. 'Yaaay' I cheered. 'What?' Said Heather. 'There has been no goal, my feed says 1-1 still.' Five long minutes later the official feed made it official. 2-1 The Millers.

When he gets the ball he's bound to score....

Then again my arm showed 'Goal-Moore' from Ian. I thought it was the same text till sky sports buzzed in. 3-1 Millers. Heather wasn't convinced of that for another five mins either.

And one more time.....

That was it. The floodgates opened. Forde made it four, then Jerry Yates five.

He's one of our own....

Final score 5-1 the Millers. We have now scored 5 (Five) goals 3 (three) times already this season. We have nearly scored as many home goals already as we did the whole of last season. Keiffer Moore has already got eight league goals, top scorer in the whole football league.

And we are up to 8th in the table. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Next up, Blackburn away

Man of the match

Ian - Darren Potter

Jackie - Keiffer Moore (in abstentia)

Vicky - Keiffer Moore (in abstentia)
